Straight answers about certified payroll and how Squared Right works.

What is certified payroll?

On federal and federally funded construction jobs covered by the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts, contractors and subcontractors must pay workers the prevailing wage, including fringe benefits paid as cash or into approved benefit plans, and prove it every week with a certified payroll report, usually Form WH-347. Squared Right prepares and checks that report for you. You review it, sign it and submit it.

What’s in the Weekly Recap?

A one-page summary that comes with every WH-347: your project and week, how many workers we checked, a pass or flag on all four corners, any underpayment we caught with the exact amount and how to fix it, updated sick leave balances, and your next steps.

Who signs the WH-347?

You do. We check your payroll and prepare the report, but the certification belongs to your company, so you always review and sign it.

Do you run our payroll?

No. Keep your current payroll system. We work from the reports it already produces, like Gusto, QuickBooks or ADP.

What do you need from me each week?

Your payroll report and timesheets showing hours by day. At setup, we’ll also need your contract’s wage sheet, your crew list and any benefit plan details.

What happens if someone is underpaid?

We tell you exactly who is short and by how much before anything is submitted, so you can correct it while it’s still a quick fix.

Which wage sheet do you use?

The one written into your contract, at the modification listed there. Rates are usually locked in when the contract is awarded, so the newest version online isn’t always the right one.

How is pricing set?

By crew size, per project, billed monthly in advance. You’ll find each tier’s price on its own page under Services. There’s a three-month minimum, or the length of your project if it’s shorter.

What if my report is late?

If you send complete payroll by Monday and your report isn’t ready within two business days of receiving it, that week is free.

Is my crew’s information safe?

Files are exchanged through a secure shared folder, never regular email. We only use the last four digits of worker ID numbers and never collect full Social Security numbers.

Do you work with prime contractors?

Right now we focus on subcontractors. Support for primes managing their subs’ reports is coming. Ask about it on your call.
